Ministries: Women

All women at Fifth Church and in the broader community have a place in a wide range of groups that seek to grow spiritually and build caring relationships. Women in all walks of life - from young mothers to church leaders to senior ladies - fulfill specialized ministries that lift each other up in God's love.

Mom's Time Out
Mothers of babies, toddlers and preschoolers are invited to join us for another exciting year of Mom's Time Out. As a group we will be listening to speakers, participating in Bible Studies, engaging in crafts, exchanging ideas, praying together, and of course, snacking...all with a group of women from Grand Rapids. When? Tuesday's beginning September 14, 2010 from 9:15 - 11:00 am at church. Daycare is provided. However, if you can offer a donation of $5 it would be appreciated. Circle Bible Studies
Monthly Bible studies called Circles give women opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship and service. Through Circles, Fifth women reach out with encouragement and prayer for all missionaries supported by Fifth Church, as well as to the members with special needs. The Fall Kick-Off for combined Circles will be September 21 at 7:00 pm in the middle fellowship hall with Rev. David Bast leading. Circles will continue to meet the third Tuesday of the month beginning October 19, 2010 at 9:30 am or 7:30 pm at church.  Contact: Lois Loetz (9:30 am) or Sue Atkinson (7:30 pm)

Women's Prayer Ministry
God gives us his power through prayer. So we are establishing a Prayer Chain for special prayer requests. You may choose to be contacted by e-mail or phone. Also, Prayer Cells of 3-5 women who meet once a month to pray for special concerns are being formed. Contact: Kathy McConnell or Joyce Flanagan.

Meal Ministry Team
In times of joy and sorrow a meal can provide comfort and support. Participate on a team that will coordinate the making and distribution of meals to Fifth family members. All women of Fifth Church are invited to be a part of the meal making events. If you would like to help on this important team contact Betsy Broene.

Apples of Gold
Women who can cook help women looking for new recipes in a six-week program that uses food to open up discussion on issues such as marriage, raising children and purposeful homemaking. We spend the first hour cooking, the second hour studying the Bible and the third hour eating our food. We aim to nurture each other as we learn what it means to serve with a joyful spirit and grow closer together with friends and God. When? January 2011  Contact: Betsy Broene

Card Sending Team
Reach out to those who need some encouragement. Help send out cards to Fifth Family members and RCA Missionaries. Contact: Mary VanderWeide.

Blood Pressure Checks
Blood pressure checks are being offered the third Sunday of each month beginning on September 20. They will be offered at 10:00 am in the media room which is across from the choir room. To volunteer to help or if you have questions contact Sheri Ingersoll.
