Junior High @ Fifth (JHAF)

Our JHAF Students Need You!

You don't need to be young to connect with teens. All you need to be is yourself. If you feel called to work with junior high students, please download the  "Child Protection Policy" below. After that, get a hold of Christian!

CONNECTING IT THROUGH THE WEEK
Teenagers just want to fit in, so the thought of being set apart as a “Jesus Freak”
is scary! But it’s important to stand up for things we believe in. Tell your child
about a time you took a stand for something you felt strongly about—maybe
a co-worker asked why you pray before lunch or you debated your views on
abortion with a relative. Knowing that you made it through that tough time will
help your child stay firmly rooted next time his or her faith is tested.

CONNECTING IT THROUGH THE WEEK
It’s pretty disappointing for teenagers when they really want something but don’t
get their way. (Hey, that’s still hard for most adults!) As a parent, you have to tell
your kids no sometimes—especially if it’s for their physical or emotional safety.
Even if your junior higher becomes upset, you know that you’re looking out for his
or her best interest.

God also has our best interest in mind. God can see the big picture and always
makes the right decision that will help us grow in our faith. Share with your
teenager a time that God didn’t answer a prayer the way you’d hoped—and how
you grew from that experience.

THIS WEEK @ JHaF

Being that this week is Valentine’s Day, we will be spending time helping the students think through the relational and emotional implications of how they act with the opposite sex. Please know that this is NOT a sex talk! Our main goal as a team, is to guide our students into a better understanding of how our actions today have an impact on their relationship with their future spouse.

If you have any questions or would like a copy of our discussion before hand, please do not hesitate to contact me.

NOTE:  The bulletin stated that we will be meeting in the basement – it was a mistake. We are meeting in the JHaF room.

JHAF

From September through May, 7th and 8th grade students are welcome to our weekly JHAF gatherings. On Sunday mornings, we meet together in the JHAF room (follow the hallway to the left and it's the last door on the left) at 11:15 a.m. - just following our worship time together. We have a great time of discussion on how to apply Christ's teachings to our everyday lives.

Wednesday nights, we meet in the JHAF room at 6:30 p.m. Join us for fun games, good times with friends, and a great talk. Once a month, we travel off site to do some form of community mission.

But wait, there's more! There are camp outs, retreats, and mission trips!! If you want to learn more, just email Christian or call the office at 616-245-9247.
